The money is from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation in Tulsa.
The sports complex, already under construction, will have 2,500 seats. It will include a stadium, entry building and plaza, as well as artificial turf football and soccer field and space for a field events arena and eight-lane track. - College Football -
Sondra Bandy Koontz, vice president for advancement for Bethel, says the total cost of the project is $5.5 million. The college raised $2.7 million before approaching the Mabee foundation for more money. Officials with the trust agreed to donate the $550,000 if the college could raise another $2.1 million in the past year, which it accomplished. - College Football -
The complex's scheduled completion date is in August. Wichita firms Eby Construction Co. and PBA Architects are doing the construction and design work, respectively.
Bethel College is located in North Newton, about 25 miles north of Wichita.
